Volunteering Opportunities Abound

5/21/2010 11:49pm by Jen Holloman
Hello Farm Friends:
Happy Spring and Happy Summer to Come!!!!

The First community gardening session begins SUNDAY 5/23 @ 10:30 am. Meet Jason up at the red barn, and begin the gardening adventure. The deal is this is a community endeavor, and the benefits will be that all participants take home fresh food and flowers from now until the first snow.  Additionally we are recruiting volunteers for the summer season- here are some of the benefits:

free veggies, learn about natural gardening methods and improve your growing skills-
Get fresh free eggs and the occasional cut of meat,
FLOWERS, cut flowers in the height of teh season
walk and work in the beautiful Long Pasture Wildlife sanctuary
Be trained as a goat milker,
work with goats and sheep
get fiber in trade for your efforts- you can make your own yarn!!!!

make friends with like minded people and enjoy the company of animals!!!

No sign up needed- just show up anytime after 10:30 on Sunday and we will put your hands in the dirt.

**** BRING GARDEN GLOVES, and maybe a small hand spade/shovel type thing...******

See you soon!!!!

Hi Jason,
It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday at the farm. Linda and I appreciated the time you spent with us talking about the farm. Please add me to your volunteer email list, I would be interested in helping out this summer.

I missed the first volunteer session, but would like to participate in the future ones. Could you please let me know when they are.

Hi all,
There are volunteer opportunities abound! Almost every sunday we'll be at the farm from 10 - 2 working in the garden, shearing goats, tending to newborn kids, moving the herd if needed, etc, etc. All are welcome and the time commitment is open, although some activities need a couple of hours to complete.

It's lots of fun, we provide water and seltzer water.

Hope to see you there!
