Why Grass fed? When an animal is able to live out the conditions of its life in as natural a setting as possible you are granting that animal its inherent right to be. Animals raised in confinement, and that doesn't mean in electric netting, but on crowded feed-lots and in warehouses are no longer real animals. They have become a product, and as bad as one might feel for 'eating meat', there is a great difference when you know the animal you are eating, the conditions in which it was raised and the farmer who raised it for you. This is a responsible way to use the food system. A small way that we can all help to save the planet is by getting what you can from farmers, fisherman and farms that you live near. In this way you keep pumping money into the local economy and that keeps your neighbors working. Right now it will be the small things we all do to keep this consciousness going. Plant a small garden, trade something food related with your neighbor, take time to shop at small food markets, specialty stores like bakeries and fish markets. Attend as many farmers markets as you can. It will be these small changes that support the greater movements that will change how food is produced in this country. Look for your products based on what is produced here on Cape Cod.
